The weight of the work: Why leading in the NDIS isn’t just a job (MLN1_L6_NDIS)

Description

Leading an NDIS organisation carries a particular kind of weight. Executive decisions affect participant rights, safety and continuity of support, workforce wellbeing, organisational accountability and service viability. Yet leaders must often act without complete information, unlimited resources or certainty about the outcome.

This course explores how to carry that responsibility without becoming consumed by it. You will examine purposeful vulnerability, professional boundaries, over-responsibility, moral distress and cumulative ethical strain, including how sustained pressure can affect judgement, teams and organisational culture. Rather than treating these experiences as personal weaknesses, the course considers how shared leadership, effective governance and appropriate support can reduce the burden carried by individuals.

By the end of the course, you will create a practical leadership load map identifying what is yours to carry, what must be shared, which supports or decision-making structures are missing, and one change that will help you lead with greater clarity, integrity and sustainability.
