This level 1 fundamentals module is for all behaviour support practitioners to better understand how the NDIS Practice Standards direct your service delivery. This module won't address the specifics of behaviour support but focus on the broader NDIS Practice Standards that apply to EVERY registered NDIS Provider. By the end of this module you will be able to:
~ Explain the purpose and importance of the NDIS Practice Standards.
~ Apply the NDIS Practice Standards to your daily operations to ensure compliance and quality in behavior support.
~ Use continuous improvement principles to enhance service quality and client outcomes.
You will also be supported to understand the expectations of incident management. We know Incidents can happen at any time during service delivery, even during behaviour support consultations. That is why we suggest Incident prevention is the best option. In the event of an incident, the priority must be to ensure the safety, health and wellbeing of participants, employees and visitors.
Then, incidents must acknowledged, responded to, recorded and managed to:
~ Ensure the best possible outcomes for participants and employees
~ Identify and control risk
~ Identify trends and opportunities for improvement
~ To comply with the relevant legislative and regulatory requirements
At the completion of this module, you will be able to:
~ Identify and incident and a NDIS Quality and Safeguarding reportable Incident
~ Know why preventing incidents is better than managing them
~ Respond appropriately to minimise further harm
~ Report it consistently
